Everyone, or most everyone looks back on their youth as a time of joy and wonderment. Caryn Suarez lived in Warsaw, Indiana, the oldest child of 6. She had four brothers and one sister. Often in school she would relate the tale of how she had four brothers that roughhoused. This would explain the black eyes, and broken noses. She also created her own fashion statement with long sleeves, long dresses and turtlenecks regardless of the weather

Only Caryn’s closest friends were privy to the fact that her father often went into homicidal rages and used his children as punching bags and bowling balls.

“Living Crazy Like Fly” is Caryn’s true story of growing up in the early 70’s in an abusive home, and how her friends helped keep her sane. At school Caryn could be wild and crazy, developing her own clique and following. She hand wrote a student newspaper for a while that became the talk of the school.

The book begins with a trip back to Warsaw at the age of 40, to visit old friends and hangouts. Caryn wonders about the past and has but one serious regret. The first love that she pushed away out of fear.

Read the book and feel her pain. Cringe as you go through her front door not knowing if her father was waiting in the dark on the other side. Listen in horror as he holds a gun up to her face and laughs maniacally yelling, “I brought you into this world and I can take you out.” And feel the love and concern of her closest friends as they try to help her survive one more day by “Living Crazy Like Fly.”
