Actress Fran Drescher seemed to have it all. She had married her high school sweetheart, had a beautiful home and had a hit TV sitcom, THE NANNY, that she shared with her husband. Suddenly, her life began to fall apart.

Fran and her husband of nearly twenty years divorced and she found herself living on her own, something she had never done. Her emotional health was fragile and she sought therapy. In the meantime, the show was canceled and her physical health began to decline. She began having cramps and bleeding between her menstrual cycles. She began to seek a diagnosis and a cure.

That odyssey would last two years and nine doctors. By the time she found doctor number eight, her condition was becoming a drain on her physically, mentally and sexually. Doctor number eight finally ran the biopsy that should have been done by doctors one through seven, and Fran was diagnosed with uterine cancer.

CANCER SCHMANCER is an inspiring story of perseverance in the face of overwhelming obstacles. It shows also the importance of early detection and treatment in cancer patients. Fran Drescher was lucky in that she didn't accept the first diagnosis and sought a second opinion when the first treatment didn't work. That very likely saved her life. Her story is worth a listen.
