Freda Ward shares humorous antidotes about everyday life in this delightful book, SERVIING GRAVY WITH A SLOTTED SPOON. The title is perfect. Things can go wrong in the most mundane circumstances. While most of us chalk them up as irritants on the road of life, Ward makes us stop to take a second look - and laugh. Mostly at ourselves!

From her "sure diet," to hypothetical investments - and a look at the overlooked and serious health benefits of chocolate, this book is will make any afternoon go by quickly. I guarantee that you'll feel better afterwards!

One of my favorite chapters was called "Closet Doors and Other Phenomena." I found out that other households besides mine experience this otherworldly occurrence. Doors that open when I leave the room. Kitchen cabinets that fly open in an attempt to display the need to clean them out. I've checked with my family. They swear it isn't them. I can only conclude that Freda and I are being visited by the same spirits.

I found every chapter entertaining, although I think a couple of chapters that seemed to be a little "political," didn't fit the tone of the rest of the book. There are many "laugh-out- loud" moments. I made my husband listen while I read passages to him - and he enjoyed the book, too. He cringed at the chapter about the tomato….well, you'll just have to read it yourself!

I recommend this book to anyone who can laugh at themselves - or who should!
