Never Again
Securing America and Restoring Justice
by John Ashcroft
Read by John Ashcroft
During Ashcroft’s tenure as U.S. Attorney General for the Bush administration the media criticized his office and
ridiculed his religion. Never Again gives him the chance to tell what really happened during his term. The
former attorney general tells listeners a little about himself, his family, how the job came to him, how he handled
the choices he made, dealt with the media, the draped statue, and most importantly 9/11, America's security and
terrorism. In listening to Ashcroft read Hachette’s audio version of Never Again, I didn’t take him as a
right-winger bent on exposing left-wing plots. It’s more like he’s informing us, as Americans, without the harshness
of typical media bias. He does seem to wear his religion on his sleeve, so to speak, but most do. Ashcroft’s narration
is calm and assured. He re-tells his part during this historical period without malice or resentment. It’s a fascinating
listen and just one of many from members of the Bush Administration - most of these memoirs can be found at Hachette.
They make for great history lessons during one of our most historic periods in the US. |
