Just the word Bruschetta makes me sit up and take note, so naturally when I came across La Place's cookbook; I couldn't help but snatch it up. Nothing makes my mouth water more than a piece of true garlic bread covered with finely chopped delights marinated in herbs and virgin olive oil. La Place goes a step further than Bruschetta. She includes Panini and Crostini. Panini means rolls or little breads. Crostini is explained as an Italian-style canapé. It's basically a smaller size Bruschetta. Don't let the bread size confuse you. These three are quite capable of serving up meals as well as simple appetizers.

La Place begins her work with "a note on bread," then moves on to three chapters of recipes for the three types of breads and ends with a sweet chapter on dessert. Each chapter touches on recipes for various situations, such as parties, light tea, grilling and simple snacks. The author introduces the recipes in brief paragraphs, and mouth-watering pictures compliment most of them. Everything is neatly organized and easy to understand.

My favorite is on page 126 - "Bruschetta with Mascarpone and Raspberries"; a recipe of Raspberries, honey, bruschetta and mascarpone, which is a fluffy white cheese made from sweet cream. Without a doubt, "Panini, Bruschetta, Crostini" will make a wonderful addition to any kitchen. The recipes are easy, and the results will be the talk of the meal.
