Food Safe Kitchens
Presenting Eight Food-Safe Steps: Written Expressly for the Home Cook
By Ann Marchiony

The first thing that caught my eye upon opening this book package was the statement, " 24 hour flu? It might be something you ate." It is scary to think that something you prepared or ate in your own home could be making you or your family sick. With Ann Marchiony's book you can avoid the possibility of food borne illness in your home ever again.

This book was specially designed for the home cook. There are many practical and easy to follow instructions here. The opening chapter discusses hand washing. Not only before food preparation, but mentions that it is vitally important for children visiting fast food restaurants with playgrounds to wash their hands thoroughly before eating. This is something I don't recall seeing many mothers doing.

The book is broken down into eight basic steps and includes advice from the author's chosen bakers dozen: 13 safety experts from around the county. There are dozens of charts and illustrations. If after reading this book you wish to obtain more information about food preparatio,n the author has also included a complete list of the Cooperative Extensions in all 50 states and the USDA hotline number.

This would be a handy to book to have around whether you are an experienced cook or a newlywed. Need a wedding gift? Why not buy a young couple this important book.
