Breads and Cakes, Meat and Meatless Loaves
By
Jean Anderson
“Quick
Loaves can be sweet or savory, hot or cold, big or little, flat
or high-rising, round or square, or shaped like a brick. They
can be meaty or meatless, “ethnic” or American, spicy
or bland. They can be main dishes, desserts. And almost anything
in between” – Jean Anderson, “Quick Loaves”
Anderson
gives bread lovers quick recipes for “cakes and breads (even
a few short-cut yeast breads), meatloaves, vegetable terrines, pudding
loaves, gelatin molds, frozen tortes and mousses.” The author
includes some of her favorite recipes as well as some new ones.
She “streamlines techniques and shaves down the ingredient
lists.” She’s speeds things up by “creating two
time-saving mixes: one for breads, one for cakes.” Time saving
and good tasting; Bread making can’t get any easier! To better
prepare you with this new, dynamic way the author recommends reading
the three-page section on how to use the book.
Readers
can expect to find recipes for Quick Breads, coffee cakes, a few
fast yeast breads, cakes pudding loaves, other desserts, meatloaves,
and meatless loves. My favorite is the Baked Italian club sandwich
loaf. In the meat section there is a little something for the chicken,
fish, turkey, Thai, Italian lovers. There is also an improved recipe
on the old favorite Meatloaf. Quick Loaves has the power
to convert non-bakers. Old-fashion and modern Breadmaker’s
will treasure it. |
