Texas Judicial Cookbook
by Dennis R. Mott
The
Texas Judicial Cookbook by Dennis R. Mott is a countywide compilation
of the favorite recipes of Texas lawmakers and County officials.
I found some of the recipe's descriptive language comical as they
sounded more like a courtroom brief than a recipe; just the facts
ma'am. And the submitter's photos looked more like mug shots than
chefs. A few were wives' recipes, probably from men too busy to
actually know how to cook, or a favorite food that they enjoyed
but didn't know how to prepare. But, they were all very Texan. I
even saw a few I had forgotten how to make and some I wanted to
test.
The photo pages are filled with pictures of Texas
's county courthouses, which are all architecturally interesting.
Being a Texan myself, I have seen many of them on my travels throughout
the state. Texan George W. Bush, while Governor, made it his personal
goal to have these courthouses refurbished as a tribute to their
unique style and to preserve their historical beauty. Some are still
in the process of being restored today.
As both a lover of classic Texas food and Texas
courthouses, Mott put this cookbook together to honor the culture
and history of Texas . |
