Betty Fussells' book, The Story of Corn, is a historical and geographical journey about corn. From the Moche Indians around one hundred to eight hundred AD in Northern Coastal Peru with their pottery corn poppers and Incas and Aztecs from the same place who reverenced the corn, to Orville Redenbacher, a former County Agriculture agent in Indiana with his own taste of popcorn. Corn is the main stay of earth. It is interconnected with every facet of our lives and households. Betty has written so much in her book covering corn in cooking, breeding, science, history, and myths... it's hard to cover it all in one review.

Being a history buff and a small gardener I really enjoyed it. It expands the reader’s view of corn and how it has sustained this planet. My small contribution to add is: Jesus and his disciples even enjoyed freshly picked corn from a field while they were traveling.
