The Daily Show with Jon Stewart Presents
America (The Book)
A
Citizen's Guide to Democracy Inaction
By the writers of
The Daily Show, Jon Stewart
The word democracy
(DE - MOC- RACY) hyphenated on red, white and blue CDs is how America:
the audio book is packaged. And that pretty much sums up the content.
"De" Daily Show writers and Jon Stewart "Moc"
America's government, history, and politicians with their "Racy"
humor.
The Forward is by
the late Thomas Jefferson, who recommends "Google" and
shares his thoughts in what would have been considered in his day
a naughty fashion. The book is set up like a text book. The audio
book has bells and chimes that sound off with the lists of “what
one will learn” and “questions” included in each
chapter. Stewart and his cohorts are comedy writers. They make a
living at making light of our government, history and political
system. In their audio book they offer some intelligent insights,
along with loads of humor, but there is also plenty of racy, offensive
content. Stewart's fans will enjoy seeing his humor in print, but
he could have successfully widened his audience had he controlled
his need to shock and offend.
Jon
Stewart is the host of the award-winning show "The Daily Show."
His humor and smile reminds me of the kid at the back of the class
who sneezes the dirty work and smirks at the rest of the class when
he gets away with it. In listening to his narration of the book,
it's easy to visualize that kid as a grownup and still getting away
with it. Headphones highly recommended with this one.
