Pearl Harbor Amazing Facts

by Timothy B. Benford

Pearl Harbor Amazing Facts is a rather interesting handbook looking back at the "date which will live in infamy" as quoted by then President Franklin D. Roosevelt. December 7,1941 is a historic day for this country and this references the time leading up to and after this moment.

With an extensive coverage of the chronological events including the warnings that were given but, not believed or perhaps overlooked so this event could not be prevented. A revisionist thought also included in the text shows fair and well thought out fact accounting. Also interesting was that code-breaking machines were not available for use in Hawaii. Excerpts from an official report called the Martin-Bellinger Report, which also warned as much as nine months in advance that surprise attacks could occur in Hawaii, were also ignored.

This book also includes approximately thirty photos from this time. A complete listing of the ships involved including the actual word for word log from the USS NEVADA as well as a listing of the Japanese ships that were there that day. Also included is President Roosevelt’s address to Congress, which included the "date in infamy" reference. There are biographies of key people who were involved during this time such as President Roosevelt and Winston S. Churchill (the Prime Minister of Great Britain) and also Hirohito, the Emperor of Japan.

Overall a very comprehensive look at the facts with fascinating photographs from a period in history that should not be forgotten. It is presented in a manner that makes it easy to follow the events. There is also a bonus list of World War ll facts from before and after the attack. Pearl Harbor Amazing Facts is something anyone interested in history should read.
