The Dragon DelaSangre is a one-of-a-kind masterpiece of horror writing. It is original and keeps the reader interested in the book throughout, starting from page one to page 292. This book introduces the reader to Peter DelaSangre, a unique character who lives on an isolated island near the coast of Miami. He leads a secret life that no one, except for the rare similar characters, understands or knows about unless they have happened to fall unfortunately to Peter.

The character development is strong, which is not always seen in horror books. The setting of the isolated island plays an important role throughout the story. The plot line is slightly predictable but it leads the reader on an interesting path to the end. Probably the only way that the story could work is how Mr. Troop tells the story, in first person. It leads the reader to become entrapped in Peter's life and provides the reader with a first feel of Peter's character.

There is some graphic imagery provided, but only if a reader has a great imagination, which is needed for this wonderful book. This book has the same caliber of interest as Little, Saul, Koontz, and King.
