Wither's
Rain
A Wendy Ward Novel
By John
Passarella
This
book exemplifies classic horror writing, reintroducing the reader
to Wendy Ward, who made her debut in Passarella’s earlier
book, Wither. Wendy is a practicing Wiccan and has a mystical ability
to commune with spirits not of this present time. (There are several
references to what happened in Wither that could leave a reader
confused if they had not read the first book.)
In Wither’s
Rain, Wendy has to face a known enemy who is incognito. She
also is trying to get through her college years and is asked to
takeover the local Wiccan store. She has to face her past and save
her future.
This book could be compared to a classic
Stephen King book. The character development is so well-done that
the reader feels for Wendy and sees the evil of her enemies. The
plot is also well developed, with encounters between good and evil
where, at times, evil prevails. This book could easily be adapted
to a movie and with the right director, could become a classic horror
movie.
