From the Borderlands
Borderlands
series, No 5
Edited by Elizabeth
E. & Thomas F.Monteleone
Elizabeth
E. Monteleone and her husband, Thomas F. Monteleone, have assembled
yet a fifth anthology of strange tales. These stories are not pure
horror, yet all are strange in some respect and have aspects of
horror in them. All are unforgettable. Some of the writers are new
and some are masters of the horror genre.
The collection opens with Rami Temporalis,
by Gary A. Braunbeck, a tale of a man who has one of those faces
that leads everyone to talk to him. He doesn't know why, and he
wishes he didn't have one of those faces. Then, he meets a man who
wants his face. That is strange enough. But there are stranger tales
to be had.
Time for Me, by Barry Hoffman,
is a perfect example. This is a story of retirement that will make
your hair stand on end! Smooth Operator, by Dominick Cancilla,
is a story of madness in its deepest and purest form. At the end
of the book is a new novella by Stephen King, Stationery Bike.
As you might expect, this is no ordinary ride.
There are twenty-five stories in all,
the cream of the crop of the more than seven hundred submissions
received. If you like horror, this is a book you will love. There
is not a bad story in the bunch. If you've never read one of the
Borderlands series, this book will quickly make you a fan. Stephen
King's newest novella is actually the best he's ever written. And
I've been a fan of his for many years. Pick up a copy of From the
Borderlands. You're in for a real treat!
