When AARP Comes Calling

A Sharp 72-Year-Old Shares Her
Youthful Secrets

I am not a "Boomer," at least not in the sense being bandied about on the front pages lately. I'm too old. Been there. Done that. Barbara Morris's book, Boomers Really Can Put Old On Hold, is not for the likes of me. It's for those for whom the idea of aging is only beginning to dawn!

For those of us who are older-at least those of us who care about not growing older or looking older-this author doesn't say much that is new. For those who have been busy carting kids to school and socking funds away in an IRA, many of the "secrets" this 72-year-old has to share may very well feel fresh. She is at her at her best when she is talking about how drugs can affect seniors. She is, after all, a pharmacist and her expertise in these related chapters shows. But when she's talking general health (don't we all know that nicotine is a no-no?), plastic surgery, retirement, or exercise, it's pretty ho-hum.

On the other hand, you might know someone who just turned 40 who just barely realized they're middle aged. Or someone a bit older who is relying on doctor's visits and the back counter at Thrifty's. If that's the case then this book might be just what the doctor…ahem…pharmacist ordered!
