Dwellings
Living with Great Style
By Stephen Sills, James Huniford

I've read many decorating books, and have to say this one is in the top five. Sills and Huniford touch on every subject one needs to know to create a décor the correct way, the first time. The chapters move from making a home to finding one's personal style to planning and living in it. They write extensively on color, furniture surfaces, functional spaces, details and changes.

The book's design is exquisite. Beautiful scenes sometimes lay upon bold textures and patterns, bringing both the pictures' content and the background to life. Decorating wisdom in handwritten scrawl pop off the pages, and the photo credit goes to many.

So, is the written content as solid as the appearance? You bet. Expect to learn a lot. In short, if you're purchasing that first house or decorating a room from the bottom up for the first time, get this book!
