How to Stay Married and Love It
Solving the Puzzle of a SoulMate Marriage
By Nancy Landrum with Jim Landrum

How to Stay Married and Love It was written in response to today's extremely high divorce rate. The authors, Nancy and Jim Landrum, were on the brink of divorce and took many measures to save their marriage. Both Jim and Nancy had been married before and both had been widowed.

Jim had been a minister for over 30 years; Nancy has a Masters Degree in Spiritual Psychology and practices as a pastoral counselor. Jim and Nancy felt that their marriage was beyond repair until they began to use the same principles, strategies and techniques they demonstrate in this book to rebuild their marriage. Not only did they save their failing marriage, but they also become Soul Mates, a concept every married couple would love to experience.

After working out their problems with these exercises and techniques, Nancy and Jim began to teach these skills to other couples. At the time of publication, they had taught this idea to over 1000 couples.

In the book, the reader learns that they are not always right. Sometimes their spouse's point of view is the better of the two. They have to learn to stop and listen and in fact they are many levels of listening. Not only do the couples learn how to listen, but also to communicate. Sometimes just opening your mouth and speaking your mind is not the wisest choice.

We must also learn to respect our partners and know how to handle an angry situation. There are lots of tips on how to do this and stories about how it has worked for many couples. All marriages have problems somewhere along the way and I would recommend at least thumbing through this book to see if there is not something to be learned for all of us. I would be surprised if there is not some section of the book that even the most perfect marriage would benefit from.
