How to Assure Your Child's Success in School
By Laura
Cobb
Here is a roadmap that will lead you in teaching your children from
birth to the formal academic settings. Laura Cobb draws on her experiences
of 20 years in the teaching profession to help you get your children
off on the right foot, and give them the head start they deserve,
as well as how to deal with the political ramifications of academia.
Cobb gives you tips
for beginning your child's education at home, and how to choose
a good preschool. She advises you on carrying the learning process
over into everyday life, and a multitude of ways you can get involved
in your child's school, and in his extracurricular activities as
a volunteer. Cobb gives pointers on how to assess your child's learning
ability, possible problem areas, and how to deal with them. She
even has advice on seeking scholarships and educational loans for
college. Though the style is a bit preachy, the book is very informative
and inspiring.
The second half of
the book is devoted to appendices of educational organizations,
resources and a bibliography.
This
book would make a wonderful gift for new parents, or parents of
young children. With Laura Cobb as your mentor, you can assure your
child's success in school, and in later life through a good education
with the backing of loving parents.
