460 Iris Folded Cards To Make
The Complete Iris Folding Compendium
by Maruscha Gaasenbeek and Tine Beauveser
This is the ultimate iris folding book, containing all the patterns from the previous three compendiums, which in
turn contain the patterns from the small square books that papercrafters know and love. But if you are new to the
hobby and don’t know what it is all about, don’t worry, for some basic instructions are given. These are not quite
as basic as those in the original booklets, however, which helpfully explained all about how the hobby came about,
what supplies you need to obtain, how to cut and prepare it etc. Instead, the patterns are grouped in three
sections, depending on what initial shape they are based upon. I couldn’t find any mention of the width of strip
needed or how to fold it, so I would rate the book as being definitely aimed at improvers; any beginners reading
this had better get hold of one of the original books, or one of Search Press’ own iris folding books.
Here, though, is a treasure trove of patterns, all of them shown made up to give inspiration and with brief
instructions. There are patterns for Christmas and Easter, new baby, celebrations, invitations and any time you
need a card. Cats, pots, clothes, plants, parasols, eggs, abstract shapes, wine glasses etc are all here, together
with many more. And once you have the hang of it, here is a wonderful way of recycling old envelopes, unwanted
mailshots, wrapping paper and any other paper you might otherwise throw away. Was being green ever such fun?!
