In "There is Eternal Life for Animals", Niki Shanahan shows readers, through biblical scripture, the proof that animals do go to heaven. The author attempts to prove her opinion in twelve chapters. The titles speak for themselves.

Chapter One - Introduction
Chapter Two - God's Relationship with the Animals
Chapter Three - How Much Do The Animals Know?
Chapter Four - Animals in Heaven
Chapter Six - Restoration, Restitution, and Eternal Life
Chapter Seven - Eye Witnesses of Animals and Pets in Heaven
Chapter Eight - Noah, A Foreshadowing of Jesus
Chapter Nine - Misinterpretations
Chapter Ten - Praying for Animals
Chapter Eleven - Personal Experience
Chapter Twelve - Eternal Life for People

Shanahan shows the direct relationship between man and animals and their dependence on each other as well as God's relationship with man and animals. The book of Genesis states man gave the animals their names and was assigned to care for them. Shanahan reminds us that God gave the animals assignments, as well. For instance, when the ravens fed Elijah the prophet. (Chapter 3, Page 29)

All through this book, the Word of God shows the coalition of man and animals and how God claims all of the animals as his, just as he claims us. The point: they weren't created to just come and go; they are vital to the balance of man and God -- hence their place in heaven.

Another example of her theory is when she quotes Isaiah, reminding us of the new heaven and new earth - how the wolf will lie down with the lamb and the leopard will lie down with the kid, etc.

One can see by reading Shanahan's work that she has an intense passion for animals and believes very strongly in life after death for every creature.

I agree that we will most likely meet our pets in heaven, but I felt some of the scriptures she chose did not apply. That is not to say I don't recommend her book; I do - for those looking for the good news that they will be meeting their animal companions on the other
