The Best Year of Your Life
Dream It, Plan It, Live It

By Debbie Ford

Debbie Ford has written a helpful little book that promises to assist you in creating the best year of your life. She claims that we all can follow our dreams and have lives full of success and happiness. That may sound like a big sales pitch, but the book she has written is a healthy roadmap to creating your ideal year.

Founder of the Ford Institute for Integrative Coaching, the author offers pep talks and action steps that are grounded in reality. She divides the book into three sections: Dream It, Plan It, and Live It. The first section offers ways to explore your dreams and make a firm intention to create those dreams. The second section requires psychological digging into your reasons for not pursuing your dreams. Ford offers action steps that explore negative self-talk, excuses, and self-defeating behaviors. These aren't deep therapy sessions, just questions to ask yourself about why you aren't living a happier, more fulfilling life. Once you have cleared away the past, you then work on your life plan by answering a simple list of questions about two main goals for the year. Finally, the last section is pure support and offers the best of Ford's coaching skills.

The Best Year of Your Life, Ford's fifth self-help book, is a practical guide for setting life goals. The information is so simple, you wonder why you didn't think of it before. Its lists of planning questions help you focus for any project that comes along, including relationship and emotional goals. Ford also provides internet support with supplemental worksheets from her website. In addition, her website offers other opportunities for support and coaching, including a weekly radio show and a telephone group session-all free-to supplement your work with this book.
