Stand Against the Wind
by Erwin Raphael McManus
The title, Stand Against the Wind, is the perfect phrase to describe this little
gem of a book. Its author, Erwin Raphael McManus, was unfamiliar to me, but no longer.
His other works include: An Unstoppable Force and Seizing Your Divine Moment
and Uprising: A Revolution of the Soul.
Using beautifully descriptive literary style, which goes deep, Stand Against the Wind
answers the complex questions that haunt the minds of true lovers of Christ. In this book,
the author addresses the complex relationship between bitterness and ingratitude, and
pointedly states that the person with an attitude problem really has an arrogance problem.
He postulates that in the end, "Violence is arrogance when it doesn't get its way."
In clear and unapologetic terms, McManus offers us the unvarnished truth regarding
what God expects from his children, and yet he offers hope that when we submit, killing
off our own personal agendas, we can live freely and passionately, for the very first time,
no longer in fear, but in the love and joy that God intended.
This book is a keeper, complex enough to read again and again, always gleaning new insights
that encourage growth and change.
Highly recommended. |
