Based on the Netman
character created by Bud Wall, this is a mind-stretching journey into
cyberspace. Fifteen-year-old Weldon is the pre-eminent computer genius
of his time, battling greed and corruption in the government of Thrae
and on the Web. He and his band of super teens are challenged by BeezleButt
and a group of criminal Viruses who have escaped from Virus Prison and
threaten the Galaxy with takeover. These Viruses defy the imagination
with names like Leprosy B2 and LockJaw, and descriptions such as "a
one eyed protoplasm ball covered with oozing lesions."
Weldon and the teens
imprint their brain waves on Cyborgs, Netman and the Cybersquad and launch
them into cyberspace to deal with the militant escapees.
Lots of fast action,
a wild imagination, and rare humor mark this first novel. Well developed
characters on both sides of the action keep the interest level high. This
futuristic hi-tech adventure by superkids will keep tweens that are Sci-fi
fans reading to the end and asking for more. It has a plot that takes
the reader beyond reality and across dimensions in a world peopled by
villains that are scary, and teen aged heroes that are bigger than life.
