Time
Slime
By Jim Eads
Time
Travel has always been a fascinating subject, and in this story,
author Jim Eads takes Sammy on exciting adventures in the past.
When Sammy and his friends Ollie and Burgy investigate an old cellar
on Mrs. Armbrose's property, Sammy samples the contents of a jar
that looks like it might be some kind of homemade preserves, and
takes a terrifying trip into the past.
Sammy
discovers that by eating a dab of the "time slime" and
making short trips into the past, he can correct mistakes that he
has made, and actually change history. He can finally get even with
the school bully, and favorably impress Marilyn Lipsky.
With
each trip back, however, the storms in the present are more violent.
Sammy discovers that the inventor of the time slime discontinued
his experiments because he was afraid that time travel would upset
the delicate balance of time and space. Could Sammy himself cause
the destruction of the Universe?
This
exciting and funny story is hard to put down, and will intrigue
even reluctant readers with the great characters and dangerous adventures.
Eads has done a masterful job on this edge-of-the-seat story that
would certainly lend itself to a series. I hope we see more of his
books.
