Beatrix Potter: The Complete Tales
By Beatrix Potter
Children
have for many years enjoyed the tales of Peter Rabbit and his friends.
Now, they can listen to them as they are read beautifully by Shelley
Frasier. Twenty-three enjoyable tales are recorded on three compact
discs. Each story is divided into at least two tracks of three minutes
each, leaving them easily pausible for the younger children with
shorter attention spans.
All of my favorites
are here, along with four previously unpublished works. Not only
will your young children enjoy these tales, you can take a trip
down memory lane while you listen to all of your old favorites again.
For me, since I don't have children, it's been a long time since
I visited the world of Peter Rabbit and heard how he outwitted Mr.
McGregor, along with his cousin, Benjamin Bunny. We also hear how
Squirrel Nutkin lost his tail in a battle with an owl.
Each story has a moral
to it—a lesson to be learned in good behavior. It shows what
happens when children disobey. It also shows the rewards of children
who do obey their parents instead of getting into trouble. It's
a lesson Peter Rabbit, as well as many of us, had to learn the hard
way. Old Mr. McGregor almost ate him when he disobeyed his mother
and went to old Mr. McGregor's garden.
There are also tales about
Flopsy, Mopsy, Peter and Benjamin after they were grown up. Even
then, the behavior of their children sometimes mirrored their own
behavior as children. The dangers were still there, though not all
of them came from Mr. McGregor. Badgers are just is dangerous as
gardeners.
Pick up a copy of Beatrix Potter's
tales. These CDs will entertain your children for hours, and you'll
enjoy them too.
