The Get Rich Quick Club
By Dan Gutman

Read by Angela Goethals

     Our mission statement:

“We, the members of the Get Rich Quick Club, in order to form a more perfect summer, vow we will figure out a way to make a million dollars by September. We agree that neither rain nor snow nor gloom of night will prevent us from achieving our stated goal, until death do us part.”

And so begins the GRQ club with members Gina, Rob, Quincy, Eddie and Teddy (the twins).

Rob is sitting with his pet pig, Chester, when Gina comes by, followed by their Aussie friend, Quincy, and Eddie and Teddy – the ankle bitters. Staving off boredom leads the group to a get rich scheme that turns into the Rich Club Quick Club (Gina, Rob, Quincy Club). Gina sets the club up like a company and Rob comes up with the UFO idea. Once everything falls into place, the kids are caught up in a whirlwind of excitement and a summer adventure they will never forget.

Gina is honest about her love of money. Rob is quiet and “almost” deep. Quincy loves to have-a-go at just about anything. And the twins share the gift of whining, which is absolutely comical at some points. It’s a delightful, funny listen with an “Oh no!” final twist that will have you in stitches. Listeners will also get a kick out of Gina’s interpretation of Quincy’s Aussie slang.

Gina tells the story of The Get Rich Quick Club.  Actress Angela Goethals, best known for Jerry Maguire and Home Alone, is the voice of Gina. Goethals adds to the fun with the various ways she voices each character. Play this one loud and share the humor!
