A Giraffe and a Half
By Shel Silverstein
What do you get when
you give a strange giraffe and a little boy the power of Shel Silverstein’s
imagination? TOTAL CHAOS! – Not to mention an incredibly hilarious
story written in poetry form and illustrated by the unique man that
graced us with an entrance into his world with every word he wrote
while he was alive.
From
rats in the hats to whales on tails, the little boy and his giraffe
act out an astonishing game of “what if,” allowing children
and adults alike to un-rein their imaginations and leave reality
at the door. I’ve always been a huge fan of Silverstein’s
work and I have to say that I wouldn’t be able to hold on
to the imagination I have without writers like him to feed it. I
recommend buying this book to ANYONE who is able to breathe and
live. No one should go through life without opening their minds
as well as their hearts to Silverstein’s mind-bogglingly vivacious
world.
