The Last Battle
By C. S. Lewis
Read by Patrick Stewart
Each time the children have
been able to come back to Narnia, they were brought by Aslan to
help Narnia and destroy evil, but they never thought about their
trips to Narnia being their last because of something other than
them just growing old. Eustance and Jill are back to help Tirian,
the King of Narnia and his unicorn friend Jule, save Narnia from
the worst threat they could ever face – the beginning of the
end.
Aslan, the Lion who
created Narnia and watched over its inhabitants, is missing, and
what’s worse is there’s an imposter turning the inhabitants
of Narnia into slaves of the Calormen – the violent men of
a neighboring land who want to take over Narina for their own.
Will Eustace, Jill, Tirian,
and the loyal Narnians be able to save their beautiful world from
falling – or is it the end of another cycle?
I am a huge C.S. Lewis fan, and
every audio book that’s been offered, I’ve grabbed.
His writing style is descriptively beautiful and deeper than the
Eastern Ocean. This book, I have to say, has become my ultimate
favorite. There is no way C.S. Lewis couldn’t have topped
this one if he had tried. It’s a poignant, overwhelming story
of the elusively mystic land that C.S. Lewis has allowed us to be
a part of and the cycle of life that every world will go through.
Patrick Stewart is an incredible
actor and to have his deep, spine-tingling voice bringing Narnia
and its inhabitants to life is something beyond description. Better
known for his role as Captain Jean-Luc Picard on “Start Trek”
and Professor Xavier in the “X-Men” series, Stewart
gives Lewis’ character the ability to become real to the readers.
Absolutely Marvelous!
