Millions
By Frank Cottrell
Boyce
Damien
has recently lost his mother, and his father moved them into a new
home. During his time of grief, Damien becomes obsessed with Saints.
In fact, he’s made it his goal to memorize the saints listed
at www.totallysaints.com
. One day a bag of money falls from the sky – from God, or
so it seems to Damien.
Damien
sees the wealth as an opportunity for canonization. His brother
Anthony sees an opportunity for more cable channels. The boys buy
toys and games, share with the kids on the playground, and give
a generous donation to the Latter Day Saints. Anthony is realistic
and sees the difference between need and greed. Damien chooses to
remain innocent in his thoughts as he helps others.
Normally,
having so much cash could keep one independent and happy, but not
when the Euro is becoming the primary currency. The boys have seventeen
days to spend 229,000 pounds. It’s harder than it sounds,
especially when you’re trying to hide it from dad. Eventually
the boys spend too much and attract attention.
Millions
is a boy’s journey in healing -- a journey paved with good
intentions, millions of dollars, youthful antics and close calls.
Readers will be entertained by the boys’ adventures and touched
by the moments of clarity between father and sons. It’s an
adventure for all ages. It’s a story of make believe, but
still . . . what if? Highly recommended. |
