Moo Who?
By Margie Palatini
Illustrated by Keith Graves
Hilda
Mae Heifer was in the pasture having fun and singing “mi-mi-moo”
when “a hard and high-flying cow pie” hit her in the
head! Hilda Mae can’t remember who she was or what she did.
“Yes, it was sad but true
- Hilda Mae Heifer had lost her moo.”
Hilda Mae
wonders if she's supposed to honk, meow or oink. She copies each
farm animal, and each animal tells Hilda she is a cow who moos.
Hilda Mae won’t listen. Will Hilda Mae ever get her Moo back?
To find out, you’ll have to open the book and face the high-flying
cow pie with Hilda Mae.
Hilda
Mae wasn’t the only one hit by something. I was struck by
a fit of laughter at the sight of Hilda Mae Heifer sitting innocently
and confused on the cover with her large pink snout and red bouffant
hairdo.
Moo Who?
is the perfect book to read aloud. Kids will imitate the animal
sounds and giggle with delight as each animal tries to convince
Hilda Mae she is a cow. Expect just as many giggles from the illustrations
- if not more. Illustrator Keith Graves presents a comical, befuddled
Hilda Mae, a cartoonish farm and some quirky farm animals as large
vibrant illustrations to match their large vibrant personalities.
Margie
Palatini has authored many humorous books. I recommend Moosetache,
Mooseltoe, Piggie Pie! and Bedhead for more reading
aloud fun.
