Te Amo, Bebe, Little One
By Lisa Wheeler
Illustrated
by Maribel Suarez
This
mother's song to her newborn baby is told in catchy rhyming verse
and describes his first year of life. With the changing seasons,
and as the baby grows, the Bebe and his mother take a trip to the
beach, dance at the fiesta and enjoy an evening in a rocking chair
beneath the winter moon. The song that Mother sings to baby
throughout is:
"I love you once, I love you twice.
I love you more than beans and rice."
When it comes time for baby's first
birthday party, he doesn't want cake, but prefers beans and rice.
This book does not have a bilingual
text, but it does have a sprinkling of Spanish words throughout.
Maribel Suarez has illustrated this
charming book of rhymed verse with bright watercolors on Fabriano
paper. Her characters are so expressive and magnetic, showing their
love for each other in every picture. Even the cows wear smiles.
Read this wonderful bedtime story
to your little ones, and expect to read it over and over again. This
book is destined to be a classic.
