Tinyflock Nursery School
By Suzy-Jane Tanner

On the first day of Nursery School, everyone is very excited about making new friends, except Baabaara, who is afraid and wants to go home. Once Baabaara is drawn into the classroom by stories, potential friends and a nature walk, she feels much better. She has a brief setback, when she forgets to go to the bathroom, but recovers when Ms. Wooley gives her a spare pair of underwear.

The language and illustrations in this charming book are appropriate for preschoolers and parents of preschoolers alike. The illustrator has cleverly used lambs to depict the children. Some lambs are white, some are black, some are white with black faces, each one is different, as are children. The lambs’ clothing even demonstrates personality traits with one girl wearing a fancy dress, a set of twins dressed alike and one little boy lamb even sporting a braid from his head!

Baabaara is a typical preschooler who hesitates to be separated from her mom, but after a fun and learning day, doesn’t want to leave her new Tinyflock Nursery School.

As a ex-teacher and children’s librarian, I would highly recommend this book and not hesitate to use it in any story time for preschoolers.
