Bad Cat Puts on His Top Hat
by Tracy-Lee MeGuinness-Kelly
Bad Cat revels in being bad. He sings about it. And with his mouth full of big pointy
teeth - he certainly looks bad. He is a cat who does what he will - and it's always bad.
Or is it? In Bad Cat puts on His Top Hat, we see Bad Cat dashing and dancing through
the city of Stinkytown and everywhere he goes, there is change. He accidentally draws
a line of customers for a restaurant, shows a bully the error of his ways, foils a robbery,
and inspires creativity. All this happens through the stubborn badness of going his own
way in his own time. This is a comforting story for a young child who is often the cause
of accidental "badness." My five-year-old daughter immediately saw through Bad Cat's
persona of badness - he's really a good cat to have around. The illustrations were bright
and energetic and filled with unusual details that will add to each encounter with the
book, matching Bad Cat's personality purrfectly. |
