Blue Wolf
The Julie Andrews Collection
by Catherine Creedon
Jamie Park is struggling with the death of his mom, the growing distance between himself
and his father, and his sense of isolation at school. He finds himself more and more drawn
to the invisible wolves he feels he has imagined to keep himself company as he runs. Then
Jamie's Aunt Louise invites him to spend the summer and his father seems set on the idea
despite Jamie's misgivings. It's a summer of increasing strangeness climaxing in revelations
beyond Jamie's imagination. Blue Wolf is an interesting and fast-paced combination
of reality and fantasy. The revelation isn't exactly a surprise to the reader, but Jamie's
handling of it and the decisions he must make and live with make up for the somewhat predictable
climax. Blue Wolf is Catherine Creedon's first novel, and it suggests readers may
be in for a long and enjoyable relationship with this author's imagination. |
