City
Of the Golden Sun
Sequel
to The Fisherman's Son
By
Marilyn Peake
In
The Fisherman's Son, Wiley O'Mara has rescued a group of
boys from the mysterious Ancient City beneath the sea. Now they
are with Wiley near his home, where he must figure out how to explain
their presence and to integrate the boys into life on dry land.
The boys want to revisit
their homes beneath the ocean to see their parents, but it's not
that easy. They contact Elden, the wonderful dolphin who was paramount
in their rescue, and ask for his help to go back to the underwater
world. Elden agrees, and the grand adventure begins. How exciting
to ride on the back of a dolphin beneath the water! The underwater
sights and sounds are exciting, but the reunion with their parents
is all they hoped it would be. It's as though they never left. Wiley
is immersed in the daily life of the ancient city and really experiences
the glory of the City of the Golden Sun. But they can't stay; they
must go back to the island above the sea.
The City of the Golden Sun
is a magnificent fantasy, coupled with exciting adventure that will
keep your pre-teen reading. Peake's extensive research shows in
this wonderful rendition of the Atlantis theory and it will fuel
the imagination of its young readers.
This series would be great for
family read-aloud time. Everyone will want to participate.
