Let's Play Together
Toddworld
by Todd Parr
Todd Parr's bright whimsical art is a natural for a novelty book, and Let's Play Together
has pull-tabs, flaps, and textures that make the book a great interactive experience. It's
not a story, but an introduction to each of the characters from the TV show, ToddWorld,
where we find out what each character loves best. Todd naturally loves underwear (since
Todd Parr never misses a good "hiding behind the underwear" gag.) Some of the action
created by the pull-tabs was less than amazing, but the flaps are used to great effect
to highlight all the inside jokes about these characters, such as Todd's love of mac-n-cheese
and Pickle's stinky socks. For young fans of the TV show, this book is likely to be a
hit. My five-year-old Todd Parr fan would have liked more surprises in the text, but
she returned to the bright interactive pictures again and again because they triggered
memories of her favorite episodes. |
