Shamrocked
Strange Enounters
By
Linda Joy Singleton
Shamrocked
is the second book in the Strange Encounters series. Cassie
Strange is bored with her life. She doesn't even get to join Club
Glorious with her best friend Rosalie. Plus, her dad drags her off
on another one of his debunking trips for his paranormal TV show.
This time they're looking for Leprechauns -- everyone knows they
don't exist -- maybe. In this adventure, Cassie and her brother
Lucas discover the fun and mischief of "little people"
magic and so do we. Many of the things they find on this magical
trip are classic preteen wish fulfillment. I was reminded of the
wonderful playroom from Escape from Witch Mountain -- a story from
my own preteen life. The book is fast-paced and has all the craftsmanship
you would expect from a veteran series writer. If you enjoy your
mystery stories with a hint of the fantastic -- this book delivers.
I would love to see this series continue for a long time.
