You Can't Milk A Dancing Cow
by Tom Dunsmuir
Illustrated by Brian T. Jones
I love silly picture books. The more they make my daughter laugh, the more I love them.
You Can't Milk A Dancing Cow was a three giggler in our house. Farmer Picket's
wife clearly needs a hobby, so she's making clothes. She makes her husband more overalls
than he could possibly wear, then turns her skills toward the poor naked animals. Unfortunately,
dressing farm animals completely distracts them from giving milk, laying eggs, crowing,
or doing other important farm work. She runs her sewing machine completely to pieces, but
when the farmer gives her a new direction for her creativity, no one's farm will ever be
the same. The lively illustrations are funny (and just a bit creepy with all the pop-eyed
humans) as the long-suffering farmer deals with the endless changes in his life. There
are absolutely no life lessons in this one, but plenty of laughs; it's a great book to
share with a group. Once you've seen cows and horses dance, you'll never be the same. |
