Boo and Baa Have Company
Boo & Baa Series, No 6
by Lena and Olof Landstrom
Translated by Joan Sandin
The adventuresome sheep, Boo and Baa, are raking leaves when they stop to grease the wheel of the wheelbarrow, since
it seems to be squeaking. It doesn't help. Then they discover that it is a cat way up in the tree... it's sitting on
a limb and afraid to climb down. They offer it sardines and then try to get it to climb down on a plank into a second
story window, but those efforts don't work.
Boo and Baa try several other ways to get the cat out of the tree and Boo ends up stuck in the tree instead. This
funny story will have the kids laughing all the way through.
The spare prose text relies mainly on the illustrations in this large sized picture book to get the hilarious
story across. The whimsical line drawings are done in bright colors showing the lambs with very expressive faces
and big eyes. Translated from the Swedish, this story will appeal to preschoolers and early readers, and will make
a wonderful bedtime story to read aloud. |
