Daddy Goes to Work
by Jabari Asim
Illustrated by Aaron Boyd
I'm a sucker for books about kids going to work with their parents - even though I have
no doubt that sending my six-year-old off to the office with her daddy would end with two
grumpy people at the end of the day. But I still loved the book and so did my six-year-old
(look out, Daddy!). The rhyming text takes the little girl through the day, from waking her
Daddy to breakfast to commuting and through the day at the office and home again. The
bright watercolors are wonderful, capturing the child's bright inquisitive examination
of everything from the daily newspaper to the man playing the trumpet on the city street
for change. The combination of text and illustrations creates a warm, exciting world and a
great book for little girls and daddies everywhere. |
