Game Over
Princess Natasha, No. 3
by Stephanie Peters
Creator: Larry Schwarz
A Cartoon Network character, Princess Natashia of the kingdom of Zoravia is an undercover agent in America,
protecting the world from the evil Lubek, ex-ruler of Zoravia. In typical spy fashion, most of Lubek’s evil plans
involve technology. In Game Over, the gimmick is subliminal messages buried in a video game. Of the three
Princess Natasha books I’ve read, this was the funniest, and my six year old read it and then asked me to read it
aloud to her - she liked it that much. She laughed out loud at the idea of Natashia shouting out compliments about
her arch-enemy Lubek after a brief exposure to the brain-washing game. The book, like the series, plays on a lot of
things school kids can relate to and this book looks at popularity - how wishful thinking about being popular
might not be quite as good when it really happens. The book is short and fast paced, and definitely not literature,
but for the reluctant reader or any kid with a love for silly humor - this book is sure to score. |
