Ghost Eats It All
Little Boo Books
by Janee Trasler
This is a colorful picture book for toddlers and preschoolers. The cover with Ghost holding a fork and spoon and
wearing a bib sets up this predictable text. The text is on the left hand side of each two-page spread and is usually
only three words. The food that Ghost eats is above the sentence so that toddlers and preschoolers can predict what
will happen. When Ghost eats, you can see the food inside his body, as his body is transparent. While Ghost happily
eats, Monster becomes jealous. There is a twist at the end, which will delight the young reader. The colorful
drawings are realistic, except for the artist’s interpretation of a ghost and a monster. They are not scary and
show a lot of human emotions. This book can be used to talk about jealousy, being greedy, and sharing as well as
naming common food objects. The text is very predictable, and toddlers and preschoolers will be able to guess what
the words are. The text pages are bordered with wavy orange squares and wavy black squares. This pattern is
repeated on the illustration page with dark blue and black squares. |
