Granny Gert and the Bunion Brothers
by Dotti Enderle
Illustrated by Joe Kulka
The Bunion brothers, Buddy and Buck, are rascals and not too bright. When they see a help wanted sign in front of
Granny Gert’s house, they end up with a job cleaning Granny’s privy with warnings to behave themselves or Granny
will sic Mad Dog on them. As soon as the Bunions lay eyes on Granny’s granddaughter they’re totally smitten - and
when they aren’t serenading, they’re scrapping over which brother can be Starla’s true love. The story is filled
with silly antics and great regional voice that makes it fun to read aloud. Plus, my seven-year-old daughter found
the surprise ending laugh-out-loud funny. It’s another lively, Texas-flavored picture book from a gifted author -
sure to be a repeat reader. |
