The Mice of Bistrot des Sept Freres
by Marie LeTourneau with Danielle Reed Baty
Illustrated by Marie LeTourneau
"In Paris’ Latin Quarter, Chef Marcel owns a fancy bistro called Le
Bistrot des Sept Freres, or The Bistro of the Seven Brothers."
- The Mice of Bistrot des Sept Freres
Chef Marcel serves the best Mouse cuisine in the
hippest place in Paris. His seven sons run the bistro with him and
his daughter helps, too. The Bistro is known for its award-winning
soupe au fromage, cheese soup. The chef receives a Mouse
Union Telegram announcing a French Culinary Judge will arrive that
very day to judge their famous cheese soup. Oh dear! And the chef
is out of his secret ingredient! First there is a panic, but quickly
the chef’s sons and daughter prepare for the judge’s visit and patiently
wait for their father to return with the secret ingredient. But
what happens when the chef doesn’t arrive in time?! Pick up a copy
of The Mice of Bistrot des Sept Freres and Voila' you will
know too!
In The Mice of Bistrot des Sept Freres, Marie
LeTourneau takes young readers on a delightful trip to Paris. And
with a list of French pronunciations, she teaches them how to pronounce
French words placed throughout the story. LeTourneau’s illustrations
are quite unique. They remind me of the American portrayals of Paris
back in the 60s. It’s entertaining and instructional. You can’t
beat that mom and dad.
