The Mystery of Silas Finklebean!
Freddy and the French Fries, No. 2
by David Baldacci
Illustrated by Rudy Baldacci
David Baldacci, a bestselling adult suspense novelist, is back with another installment
of the living French fry stories that he told his children. In this installment, young
Freddy Funkhouser is back in competition with the evil Spankers - this time they're vying
for the science fair prize. Since the Spankers are too dim to compete honestly, they
draft another junior genius to do the job for them by creating a huge working volcano
model. But can the bad'uns beat Freddy's time machine? We don't think so!
This book contains all of the fast-paced action of the first book, with slightly better
plot and characterization. Baldacci passes on a few of the distracting pratfalls that
made the first book so difficult to follow and keeps his eye on the story better here.
Young boys will enjoy the "big sisters are so stupid" theme as well as the silliness of
Baldacci's character names. For preteen reluctant reader boys, this will be a nice tempting
treat. |
