"When buds burst open and birds appear,
So do our relatives. Passover’s here!"
-- Passover by Schotter
Moe and his family are celebrating Passover. Even his dog Izzy joins in on the fun.
They start by cleaning house then have a special meal. Grandpa hides the matzoh. Someone
unexpectedly finds it and they all have a good laugh.
Schotter brings young readers a delightful story about Passover. The story is all in
rhyme. The illustrations are bright and cheerful. The rhyming text does well in explaining
the celebration of Passover. Once the story is over, the readers are asked to find the
Passover objects pictured at the back of the book. The author then further explains the
Passover and the objects mentioned in the story -should the little ones have more questions
once the story is over.
If you think your family will enjoy this one, take the time to look up Schotter’s last
two Holiday titles: Hanukkah! and Passover Magic.
