So Sleepy Story
by Uri Shulevitz
This beautiful book is the perfect bedtime story for little ones. It has a brief, repetitive text that starts out
with a very sleepy house in a sleepy landscape. Everything within the house is asleep, from the cuckoo-clock to the
dishes to the cat. Soft music drifts in and becomes louder and louder. The sleepy boy and everything in the house
gradually wake up to join the music in a lively dance. Then when the music gradually fades away, everything goes
back to sleep.
The wonderful illustrations begin with a night-time darkness, and when the music plays, the colors gradually
brighten to lively daytime colors, and then fade away again as the household goes back to sleep. The very expressive
faces that everything wears set the tone for the story, ending on a peaceful note that will ready your little one for
bedtime... a story to be read over and over. |
