Wave Watcher

by Craig Alan Johnson

This story is listed as juvenile fiction, but this is a story for every reader -- adult or child. When I began reading it, I didn't realize that it was intended for young adults... it is a book that will touch the heart of anyone who reads it. It is the story of a childhood through the eyes of a young boy telling of life experiences that, at some level, we all share. In Wave Watcher, we experience the joys and sorrows of a family that may be basically flawed. Family members are taught that each one is important to the family and to the world. The characters are so real and well defined that you cannot help but relate to them.

Poor little Louie was born with only one lung and an enlarged heart; he was missing two fingers and parts of his ears. He was short and his knees were bowed, but in spite of all that, or maybe because of it, he was extraordinary...unbelievably tough, resilient, and lovable.

Wave Watcher really caught me by surprise. I wasn't expecting much when I picked it up, but this book caught me up in the story on the first page and made me sympathize with Ray and Louie, and live their story along with them.

Craig Alan Johnson writes with a great sense of humor that will have you laughing out loud, and then makes you cry for the characters, and leaves you with memories you can't forget. He has certainly found his niche in the writing world. Keep it up Craig! You really have the touch.
