The Secret Diary of Adrian Cat

by Stuart & Linda Macfarlane

This is the one-year diary of Adrian, Stuart and Linda Macfarlane's cat. The diary begins on January 1st with Adrian's New Year's resolutions such as: I will not be condescending to my humans; I will not get fleas; and I will promote world peace between cats, dogs, and mice.

All Adrian asks is that his humans love him half as much as he loves himself - now is that really asking so much? At times Adrian feels the time he has spent training his humans was all for naught. Why are humans so dense and so inferior to cats?

Adrian spends a lot of his time offering advice to his best friend, Lucky. Then he falls in love for the first time with a beautiful white Persian named Snowball. Snowball is involved with "Killer" the nastiest cat on the lane. She talks Adrian into joining Killer's gang and being friends with the evil Killer. Snowball also wants Adrian to win her over by challenging Killer to a duel to the death, but modern etiquette dictates that he should offer her a token of love such as a decapitated mouse.

Adrian soon realizes that Snowball is not a very nice cat. He meets a stray cat named Gypsy who may not be as beautiful as Snowball on the outside but is much more beautiful on the inside.

Adrian's days are filled with responsibilities such as training his humans, fighting for his spot on his favorite chair, and getting in at least twenty-one hours of sleep per day.

One by one Adrian's resolutions get scratched off his list. During a routine visit to the vet Adrian discovers that the vet's blood is the same color as his human’s blood is. Go figure.

Adrian's biggest regret of the year is that there just wasn't enough time for sleeping.

The Secret Diary of Adrian Cat is Adrian's account of his adventures for one year. This is a fun book and it will have you laughing out loud.

The Secret Diary of Adrian Cat really gives you a glimpse into the mind of a cat. Stuart and Linda Macfarlane know their cat well and have shared Adrian's antics with us in this book.

I really enjoyed reading this book and recommend it to lovers of animals of any kind. It is sure to put a smile on your face. I finished the book yesterday and found myself wondering what Adrian's up to today.
