I Wish I Had Freckles Like Abby / Quisiera tener pecas como Abby
(Bilingual edition)
by Kathryn Heling and Deborah Hembrook
Illustrated by Bonnie Adamson
Translated by Eida de la Vega
Abby and Rosa are best friends, and best friends always want to be like each other, but how far will Rosa go to
have freckles like Abby? She thinks Abby's freckles are beautiful, so she tries in innovative ways to make some
freckles of her own. She tries her sister's makeup and has to clean all day to get rid of the mess. She tries
chocolate pudding, which makes delicious freckles. Nothing works very well. Then Rosa gets chicken pox, and she
does have freckles of her own....red, itchy ones.
This delightful story that captures the essence of the common childhood desire to be just like your best
friend is brought to animated life in the soft watercolor illustrations by Bonnie Adamson. The book is a
full-text English / Spanish translation; English at the top of the page, and Spanish on the bottom half,
separated by a cute flower illustration. A bilingual vocabulary page in English and Spanish is included to help
readers learn keywords in either language. It’s a good choice for home-school or early learning bilingual
classes, and a fun introduction to either language. Don't miss the companion bilingual book, I Wish I Had
Glasses Like Rosa by the same authors, also
reviewed on Myshelf. |
